$4.6 Million
The Mendi Group constructed the new Stuart Transfer Waste Station with Townsville City Council.
With the Stuart landfill becoming the sole operational landfill, it was decided that a waste transfer station be built to accommodate safe use by public with increased commercial and industry use on site.
The new facility delivers a long-term waste management strategy that is sustainable and effectively meets the balance between protecting and conserving the environment and the community’s infrastructure needs for one of the city’s premiere natural assets.
The overall project included construction of 12 bay transfer station, reconfiguration of the intersection of Vantassel St, with additional upgrade of new weigh bridge.
Mendi as a fully integrated civil construction company, self-executed the civil works, including supply of products via Townsville Graded Sands. As a locally owned business, Mendi aimed for utilisation of local suppliers and subcontractors where possible throughout the project.
