Stage 1 of the Water Security Infrastructure programme comprises the duplication of pipeline from the Haughton Channel to Ross River Dam referred to as the Haughton Pipeline Duplication Project (HPDP). The new 1800mm diameter pipe will boost the water into the Townsville Ross River Dam from the Haughton channel, fed by the Burdekin Falls Dam irrigation system. The early civil works package involved clearing the route for the 36.5km pipeline.
Our works involved clearing of vegetation, site preparation earthworks, access road construction, wash-down bays for environmental controls, cultural heritage monitoring, supply and installation of pipework, construction grids, permanent and temporary fencing.
Several environmental factors needed to be considered due t the location of the project and agricultural nature of the area These included:-
